Great Strides (CFF) Walk

CFF Walk

Thanks to AJ, Dad and anyone else who donated to the CFF walk that we participated in this weekend. Our team raised nearly $600 (that was matched by Ancestry) and we won the pizza party!

I also won the drawing to attend the Taste of Salt Lake at the TGN table. I’m super-excited about that because there is going to be great food from places like Thaifoon, Melting Pot, and other good SLC places.

We had great fun at the walk. It was a 5K from Seven Peaks to NuSkin so it was a nice, shady walk down center street in Provo. Birdy and EJ did really well- EJ got a shoulder/piggyback ride a lot of the way and Birdy rode in the stroller. As you can see from the pic, we brought Chester who was a rock star and made it most of the 3mi. on his own little chihuahua feet. I carried him the last 2 blocks since he seemed pretty tired.

In all it was a fun way to spend a Saturday. I was talking to Bek and found out there is a Buddy walk for T21 (downs syndrome) in Sept. Who wants to raise $$ and join Team Gracie??!?!

We are ready for Summer

We are getting excited (and geared up) for summer.  Last summer, we bought a tent, so this summer we are getting ready to go use it.  We got some camp chairs for the girls:

I got a bike and we got a bike trailer for the girls.

The girls LOVE the trailer. I think the time they’ve spent in it sets a record for the most time they’ve spent in close proximity without bickering or fighting.

We even busted out the summer clothes. We are ready to go!

I just want to know what happened to Birdies chubby legs (commonly called “chubby bubbies” ’round these parts). Her legs have gotten so LONG and skinny over the winter!

DMP got his childhood fishing rod last time we were in Salmon, and he has been teaching the girls how to cast. EJ is a rock star and can cast FAR.

Birdy is still learning, but hopefully she’ll be ready for our first family fishing trip!

Tulip Festival 2009

img_2245

We went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point with Cynj and the boys yesterday. It was so much fun and beautiful. The weather was perfect for picture taking (overcast and warmish), so of course the girls wouldn’t cooperate!  But here is our story in pictures.

Enjoy!

Birdy loved the melted cheese fondue best:

So, anyone wanna book a comedy show?

So  go ahead and file this under my growing collection of “Oh Crap” parenting moments…

Lately EJ is into telling jokes. They all start with “Why did the (insert random noun) cross the road”.  The punchline usually involves a banana.   We all laugh appropriately at all jokes, and Birdy laughs hilariously- usually before the punchline is delivered.

Sunday night, I was telling some simple knock-knock jokes in return and we were laughing.  I told EJ that we should go on a comedy tour together since we were so funny. She wanted me to explain what that was so I told her we’d ride in bus, get up on stage and make people laugh.  She loved the idea and I thought that was the end of it.

Since then, she keeps talking about when she and Mommy get on stage to tell jokes, and keeps asking when it is going to happen, if Birdy can join us, and what will Daddy do while we are on the road?  I forget that she remembers things now 🙂

So, um… Anyone wanna book a mother-daughter act?

Getting Ready for Christmas

More catching up from December.
Uncle Brad came one night and helped decorate the Christmas tree:

He even got to help EJ put the angel at the top of the tree:

I stayed home with sick kids one day, and put Birdy to work as my own, personal wrapping-paper making sweatshop. She did a FANTASTIC job and the wrapping paper was a hit!

Then there was a visit to Father Christmas- he somehow knew everything about EJ:

Birdy liked to look at him, and point and say “Santa” but would NOT get close to him AT ALL:

EJ also performed in her preschool program and did a great job and was rewarded with a candy cane:

So, we were early for church today…

So, we got up early today (thanks Birdy…) and we spent the morning snuggling in our bed and watching the zoo movie (zoo animals playing to classical music, the girls love it) and eating Halloween candy.  We got all organized- including eating lunch and piled into the car.

DMP and I were congratulating ourselves on getting to church early so we’d get a bench rather than sit in the back.  We walked in to the church and heard another sacrament meeting going on.  There were unfamiliar people in the foyer.  I turned to DMP and said “Is it Daylight Savings time?!?”. We figured it must be, but we had to go ask the nice, elderly librarian to figure out if we were 1 hour early, or one hour late for church!

So we trudged back through the foyer with people smiling at us understandingly.  I feel better, though, because when we arrived home, we saw our neighbors leaving their house all dressed up for church. They had just realized it too (although they didn’t actually MAKE it to church!)
